
Cultural Center Coordinator

General Summary:
Reporting to the Director of the Cultural Center, the Coordinator develops, facilitates, and assesses diversity education curricula for student organizations, the First Year Program, faculty, and staff development, and the general student community of DePaul. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of integrated student-learning and of balancing the theoretical and the practical, as it relates to diversity and multicultural education. The position is central to helping the Center provide diversity education opportunities to the entire DePaul campus and to strengthening the Center's relationship with ethnic/cultural student organizations and individuals.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, facilitate, and assess diversity/multicultural education curricula for students and student organizations.
- Supervise and monitor all aspects of the Student Allocations Team.
- Serve as liaison with Student Life and other offices/departments, as assigned by the Director of the Cultural Center.
- Supervise Student-Workers, as assigned by the Director of the Cultural Center, which may include graduate students.
- Help develop and manage the Diversity Education Resource Center.
- Serve on Student Affairs committees and participate in the division's work, as assigned.
- Manage and complete departmental initiatives.
- Help develop and manage the Diversity Education Resource Center.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Combination of a Bachelor's in Education, Social Science, or similar discipline and at least two years of experience in developing, facilitating, and assessing diversity/multicultural education workshops and/or seminars, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Candidates with a Master's and the experience described above may receive favorable consideration.
- Must possess a clear understanding of how diversity education impacts student learning, student development, and a values-based education.
- Demonstrated understanding and successful application of diversity education and identity development theories.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, human rights, and the ability to lead in a diverse community.
- Active participation via workshops, presentations, and/or committee/leadership in higher education national organizations, i.e. NCORE, ACPA, AAC&U, NASPA, and others.
- Demonstrated supervisory and "people development" skills.
- Ability to function as a member of a team, and the ability to both lead and follow.
- Strong assessment skills, especially regarding diversity education.
- Strong technical skills and the ability to use technology to advance diversity education.
- Strategic planning and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated public speaking and general communications skills.
- Ability to manage and oversee multiple projects efficiently.
- Experience collaborating with diverse university leadership and constituency.
- This position requires weekend and evening hours throughout the academic year. This is not a traditional 9 - 5, Monday - Friday position.
