Whereas, Dr. Clinton Bristow, Jr. served as Chair of the Illinois Committee on Black Concerns in Higher Education from 1992-1995 when he accepted appointment as President of Alcorn State University.
The Illinois Committee on Black Concerns in Higher Education has a history of more than 20 years. Its overall goal is the enhancement of education and employment opportunities for African Americans in higher education in Illinois.
Whereas, Dr. Bristow contributed to the resolutions of many challenges that adversely affected the educational status of African Americans in higher education in Illinois; and,
Whereas, Dr. Bristow provided excellent leadership and guidance to the statewide organization; and,
Whereas, Dr. Bristow served as the fifth chair of the Illinois Committee on Black Concerns in Higher Education served with distinction, and volunteered his time and expertise to enhance the plight of African American students, faculty and staff in Illinois; and,
Whereas, Dr. Bristow shared his knowledge and resources to improve the status of Blacks in Illinois; and
Whereas, Dr. Bristow provided unwavering support, service and encouragement to individuals within higher education in Illinois, nationally, and globally and to his local community in general; and
Whereas, Dr. Bristow served as an outstanding educational leader, a valued colleague, a mentor, and a true friend.
Therefore, be it resolved that the Illinois Committee on Black Concerns in Higher Education recognizes the intellect, kindness, and uncompromising excellent service rendered by Dr. Clinton Bristow, Jr. and submits this resolution to the Alcorn State University family and to the family of our beloved colleague.
