VICE CHANCELLOR OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

The University of Illinois at Springfield invites applications for the position of Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs.


The Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs oversees the development of initiatives that best serve the entire university and the growth and development of students. The VCSA reports to the chancellor and serves on the Chancellor’s Cabinet, which sets policy for the university. The division has 185 employees and has operational responsibility for the offices of enrollment management, counseling center, child care center, career development, student volunteer services, the diversity center, the women’s center, international student services, student life, disability services, recreational sports, student activities, student government, health services, food services and housing. The VCSA is expected to provide the leadership to enhance the campus as a lively academic community. 


The anticipated start date is January 2009. Screening of applications will begin September 22, and applications will be accepted until the job is filled.


Required Qualifications

An earned doctorate.

At least five years of demonstrated administrative experience in student affairs management at a four-year college or university.

Record of achievement in student affairs at a four-year college or university.


Excellent written and oral communication skills.



Preferred qualifications


A record of working with a diverse student body to provide a cultural, social and residential environment that promotes the full development of all students.


Demonstrated ability to facilitate and implement change and accomplish organizational goals.

Demonstrated success in working in a collegial team environment.

 

Proven ability to work well with student and faculty governance.


Demonstrated experience in managing budgets.

Successful fundraising experience.


Demonstrated community engagement.


Experience in overseeing and implementing recruitment and retention initiatives, and assessment initiatives.
